Caution

Current Status:
Completed
As a result of a complaint, the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee decided to caution Dr. J. Corey Rubinoff as follows:

• On several occasions, including in this instance, you have failed to properly assess a case at the outset. You have failed to accurately gauge the complexity of a case, and failed to refer to specialists as appropriate.
• In addition, on several occasions, including in this instance, you have failed to appreciate or act upon important clinical information during or after treatment.
• In this panel’s view, you are exhibiting a concerning tendency to overestimate your own clinical abilities; to take on cases without a thorough and adequate assessment, including as to complexity; and to mismanage complications that arise.
• The panel cautions you to thoroughly assess each case for complexity; to refer to specialists as appropriate at the outset; to manage postoperative complications appropriately; and to refer to specialists postoperatively when appropriate.
• The panel cautions you to take these issues seriously and to incorporate these lessons into your practice to prevent further and more serious regulatory action should further issues arise in future.
